Become A Volunteer
Volunteering with Russian Riverkeeper will connect you with a community of people who care deeply about the environment of Sonoma County. Join our expanding volunteer group, have fun, learn new and exciting things, and take your Russian River stewardship to the highest level!
The Riverkeeper works on many watershed projects and activities to preserve and restore the Russian River. Get close to the action and volunteer by contacting us!!
Sign Up for A Project
Join our two fun and exciting restoration projects on the river and gain hands-on experience in conservation, restoration and the ecology of native species.
Riverkeeper Stewardship Park
Work at the Park to help restore riverbank habitat. No experience necessary. Everyone and all ages are welcome. Activities include: planting and caring for native plants, weeding, mulching, erosion control, restoration education and Park cleanup. Students can receive volunteer and internship credit for participating. Visit the park to see the transformation or be part of the transformation taking place. Light refreshments provided.
When: Every Wednesday. Event cancelled when there is enough rain to need a raincoat.
Time: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM, please join us for all or part.
Bring: Water and gloves—wear sturdy shoes.
Where: 16153 Main St. Guerneville, located on the north bank of the Russian River directly upstream of the pedestrian bridge. Access is down a driveway west of Sonoma Nesting Co. At the bottom of the driveway look for the blue and white sign that says, “Russian Riverkeeper Demonstration Riparian Restoration Project Future Community Park.” Parking is available near the sign.

Foss Creek Restoration
Join the effort to restore the native plant community on Foss Creek in Healdsburg to improve wildlife habitat and make Foss Creek a healthy sustainable waterway.
We provide tools, gloves and training. Please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. We meet at Foss Creek and North Street and start at 8:30 am and work until 11:30 am.

Riverkeeper Stewardship Park
We are creating a natural pedestrian park with access to the Russian River in downtown Guerneville that reflects and demonstrates the goals of restoring the native plant community and proper ecological stewardship of the river banks for the benefit of lower river property owners while balancing human desires for view corridors and river access.
Foss Creek Community Restoration Project
The Foss Creek Community Restoration Project is a multi-year native plant restoration project on Foss Creek in Healdsburg that will involve removing large amounts of invasive non-native plants that have taken over parts of Foss Creek.
